Introducing CoopAI: Your codebase, finally explained

CoopAI Team·3 min read

Every engineering team has the same hidden tax: time spent reconstructing context.

A new engineer joins and spends their first month asking who owns what. A senior engineer fields the same Slack questions every week. A refactor stalls because nobody can trace why a module exists, what depends on it, or where the documentation lives.

The answers are scattered across Git history, pull requests, Confluence pages, Jira tickets, and the one person who remembers the incident from eighteen months ago.

We built CoopAI to close that gap — without asking your team to clone entire monorepos or ship code to a black-box AI.

The problem with "just ask the AI"

Generic coding assistants are good at syntax. They are much weaker at organizational context: ownership, blast radius, decision history, and the gaps in your internal docs.

Worse, many tools require full local clones or send broad code snapshots to third-party models with unclear retention policies. That does not scale for large repos, regulated environments, or teams that take data handling seriously.

Zero-clone, graph-first intelligence

CoopAI uses a zero-clone architecture. Your source stays on your infrastructure. CoopAI indexes repository metadata, ownership graphs, and change history on your server via webhooks and background jobs — not by copying entire codebases onto every laptop.

Developers query that remote graph through a VS Code sidebar:

  • Understand Repo — architecture, ownership, and key files without cloning everything
  • Trace Decision — why this code exists, grounded in commits and PR context
  • Find Owner — who owns an area and how to escalate
  • Blast Radius — what breaks if you change this module
  • Knowledge Gaps — missing docs and blind spots before you ship

Slack threads, Jira issues, and tickets sit alongside the code graph so answers are not trapped in tribal knowledge.

Built for teams that care about data handling

CoopAI routes LLM inference through a server-side model router with zero-retention configuration: enterprise-confidential context, retention flags disabled, and provider keys stored on your server — not in the IDE or source control.

We do not use your code, prompts, or completions to train models. BYOK and enterprise deployment paths are first-class, not afterthoughts.

What is next

CoopAI is in active development. We are working with design partners on real monorepos, real integrations, and real security reviews — not demo repos.

If your team spends hours each week answering the same codebase questions, we would love to show you what CoopAI can do.
